Hawthorn celebrate new creative talent with D&AD at New Blood Awards

UK - Nothing says ‘I’ve arrived’ quite like a nod from D&AD and for young creative talent, it doesn’t get better than winning a coveted New Blood Award.

Held on Thursday 2nd July at The Village Underground in Shoreditch, London, this is the second year Hawthorn has supported D&AD with the New Blood Awards ceremony, an event which celebrates, recognises and showcases the creative superstars of the future.
Hawthorn was charged with delivering a vibrant and dynamic awards ceremony – including staging, lighting and AV – designed to fit in with the retro gaming concept for the event, as well as supporting the after-party DJ set up.

For the awards, Christie HD10k projectors were used to project video and keynote content onto a 16ft x 9ft screen. Bringing the retro gaming concept to life, strips of 10mm LED panels ran down the side of the venue, showing content for awards stings and gaming graphics, all run through a Hippotizer. LED 8 Lights added to the gaming feel. A Qlab playback system delivered pre-recorded ‘Voice of God’ content and music stings to accompany winner’s walk up to the stage.
Mark Hornsby, Hawthorn’s project manager for the Awards said: “What a great event to be part of and it’s fantastic to see young creatives who are just starting out in their careers attain the kudos of being recognised by D&AD. There was clearly some amazing talent in the room and it was a privilege to be involved.

“We loved the cool retro-gaming concept of this event. We are often challenged to use event technology to help bring creative themes to life – whether it’s delivering our own ideas or working alongside creative professionals. It’s vital that we attract new talent, as showcased at the awards, into the events industry to continuously inject fresh ideas into the live experience.”
