Designer's notes:
A unique collaboration from Birmingham’s Ex Cathedra, Québécois dance company Cas Public, and a cast of UK performers, Concert Dansé features works for choir, organ and cello, and the evening culminates in an evocative reimagining of Duruflé’s Requiem with a mix of ballet, Kathak and contemporary dance. Over fifty performers unite to create an ethereal, haunting atmosphere, transforming Symphony Hall as never before. Ex Cathedra has established an international reputation as a leading UK choir and Early Music ensemble, with a wide repertoire ranging from the 12th to the 21st centuries. A Town Hall Associate Artist, the group tours extensively across the UK and Europe as well as performing regularly in Birmingham. Recognised for the passionate neo-classical style of its dance, Cas Public has toured extensively internationally while still retaining a strong link to its origins in Quebec’s cultural landscape. A classically trained Kathak dancer, Aakash Odedra is a rising star of British South Asian dance. He joins members of Birmingham Royal Ballet, the UK’s premiere touring ballet company, as guests in this IDFB performance.
