The deceptively simple set and lighting allowed the scenes to be switched in a way that was convincing but avoided distracting the audience from the dialogue. It is rare to find a play that can deal with so many ideas in such a deft and light handed way. The Chesil team certainly did it justice. I am off to the library to get my hands on some Kafka.
