James Perkins’ design suggests a long-neglected seafront, with the strangely effective addition of a river-like trench of floating candles. With a sky of flickering tea-lights and Gary Bowman’s weather-beaten lighting design there is a sense of the homespun to the production, a warm decrepitude which resonates with Barry’s script.
