Claypaky hosts lighting technology courses organized by the Fondazione Teatro Donizetti in Bergamo

Claypaky recently hosted the closing session of the Fondazione Teatro Donizetti‘s lighting and sound course. The participants – both men and women aged between 17 and 30 – were mostly volunteers in local theatres or individuals passionate about the technical side of show business. They spent an entire day at Claypaky – one of the leading companies in professional lighting – learning not only about how equipment is designed and built but also about the history of the company and the lighting industry as a whole. The participants had the opportunity to interact with the hardware on display at MoMS, the Museum of Modern Show Lighting, located inside the company’s Seriate headquarters.

In the afternoon, the students met with lighting designer Claudio Mazzucchelli, who held a workshop in the Claypaky showroom. During this session, he demonstrated firsthand the lighting potential that arises from a combination of creative expertise and cutting-edge technology.

“We at Teatro Donizetti are very pleased to have a longstanding partnership with Claypaky, which allows us access to top-tier equipment,” emphasized Massimo Boffelli, General Director of Fondazione Teatro Donizetti. Speaking about the technical operator course, he added, “We have been investing in the training of young people for three years because the role of theatre technician is a vital part of our workforce and tradition, which is at risk of being lost.”

Echoing these sentiments, Sergio De Giorgi, Donizetti’s Head of Stage Design, stated, “There is a shortage of technical expertise, but more importantly, there is a lack of the specific skills required to work in theatres, which differ significantly from other venues.”

“This partnership is mutually beneficial for our company as well,” noted Alberico D’Amato, Claypaky’s Sales Director. “Our fixtures are a sophisticated blend of micromechanics, optics and digital technology, designed to evoke emotions. In just a few hours, our lights need to convey so much. Therefore, we are always seeking professional excellence and opportunities to showcase our identity.”
