White Light Supplies Team Rubicon Fundraiser

Team Rubicon UK is a rapid response disaster relief charity, with a difference. Their difference is their volunteers, who are highly-skilled, ex-military servicemen and women, trained and ready for when disaster strikes. The unique skills and mindset demonstrated in their volunteers allows them to rapidly deploy into highly-challenging locations, just hours after disaster has struck. Working with agility and determination, these volunteers provide immediate life support such as clean water, shelter repair, power and connectivity to communities devastated by disaster. Using their military experience, they quickly and effectively map the disaster location, bringing order to chaos, to ensure aid is provided wherever the need is the greatest. Last week, the charity held their first formal fundraising Spring Dinner at St Paul’s Cathedral. As an approved supplier to this historic venue, White Light was called upon to provide the complete technical support.

Over 250 guests attended the evening to learn more about TRUK’s vision for disaster response and heard from CEO Richard Sharp, Chairman General Sir Nick Parker as well as special guests Dom Troulan GC and Jarred Christmas. The event was overseen by WL’s Project Manager Phil Gladman who comments: “We have an extensive knowledge of St Paul’s Cathedral and know its various spaces extremely well. The client wanted an organisation who could provide reliable technical support and who had a proven record of delivering events in historic venues both on time and on budget”.

When guests arrived for the event, they were taken to the Nelson Chamber for a drinks reception. From here they were walked through to dinner in the Crypt, during which a silent auction took place. This was soon followed by speeches and then another auction.

Phil explains: “We provided the complete technical support which included uplighting for the spaces as guests moved through St Paul’s. For the dinner we provided a bespoke PA system to ensure the hundreds of guests each heard the various speeches given regarding TRUK. We also provided four display screens which allowed for live coverage across the space”.

WL also supplied a live feed camera which streamed the evening’s events to those in attendance through the screens.

Phil adds: “St Paul’s is a fantastic venue and this was a great event to work on in order to raise awareness for an important cause”.

Alistair Lockhart, Interim Fundraising Director for Team Rubicon, comments: “We were delighted with the response we received for our Spring Dinner. We are also extremely thankful to WL for their professionalism and support leading up to and across the evening”.
