The seemingly simple set and good lighting easily changed from a Bath terrace to several interiors and in the final scene the beautifully painted backcloth transported the action to the duelling ground. This was all done in seconds, so that the impetus was never lost. The costumes were superb – good quality and well fitting – and seemed to be pretty well of the correct period. The whole production had a great 18th century feel and was much appreciated by the audience.
