Hawthorn to Stage Walk the Walk’s Moonwalks in London and Edinburgh 2015
Hawthorn has once again been selected for the 15th year running by the global breast cancer charity ‘Walk the Walk’ to deliver full technical production on their UK Moonwalk events. A total of 18,000 (London: 15000, Edinburgh: 3000) participants as well as guests will be hosted at the sell-out event centered around Clapham Common in London on 16th May and Inverleith Park, Edinburgh on 13th June.
The contract for the two events involves creating full technical infrastructures required to host the thousands of walkers. Hawthorn will be providing all staging, site lighting, power and video distribution for myriad marquees at Clapham Common, London and Inverleith Park, Edinburgh; which will include fitting out the electrics in a the kitchen in London to feed 15,000 people.
Each venue will have its own large welcome and concert marquee, which will house stage structures with lighting rigs, camera rigs and platforms, sound and video walls all provided by Hawthorn. A 140m x 60m pink galaxy structure specially built by De Boer will be the focus of the London Moonwalk, whilst a scaled down version will be the focus of the start, finish and other festivities put on by the organisers for the Edinburgh walkers.
Both Moonwalk sites will also be set up with comprehensive floodlighting infrastructures to create maximum visibility for walkers and guests, with various temporary lighting points to be installed on each site. The set-up for each event will last for seven days. Good luck to all those who are going to Walk The Walk to raise funds for the fight against Breast Cancer!
