Originally trained as an electrical and electronic engineer, theatrical life started as chief and resident designer at the Adeline Genee Theatre in 1987, work then followed as a freelance production electrician in London and the provinces before moving to Australia where work included the Sydney Arts festival. 

In 1991 joined the Royal Opera House and worked for the Opera and Ballet companies in the UK, Europe, and the Far East, rising to the position of Lighting System Manager. This role included being was part of the consultancy team behind the £240 million redevelopment of the Royal Opera House opened in 2000. Further projects included commissioning of lighting systems for the studio and new performing spaces before leaving to pursue a freelance career in 2008 in consultancy, lighting design and production electrician roles. 

During time at the ROH and since leaving, a wide range of projects have been completed from London West end shows, theatre installations and production electrics’ and lighting design.

Dance design credits include First Drafts (Royal Ballet), No Hot Ashes, Don’t dress for Dinner and Out of the Blue (Diamond Dance).
Theatre design credits include lilies on the land (Arts, London) Murder on the Nile, Flare Path, Same Time Next Year, Cymbeline, Cloud Nine, Macbeth and Little Murders. First Nights at the Garden, and Tutti Verdi (ROH Linbury studio), Edges, UK Premier (Edinburgh))

Recent theatrical work includes a wide range of shows as Production lx and set installations across London’s West End and fringe theatre scene including the London Olympic opening and closing ceremonies in 2012. Olivier awards, UK tours and west end transfers.

Other projects have included installations of Lighting and electrical works in many of the major theatres including the National theatre, Festival hall and various National galleries in London and around the UK including the V&A, Hayward and National awards shows, festivals and corporate events.

Further work includes creation of lighting and venue CAD plans along with teaching of AutoCad in UK based Drama colleges.
